EGR is a nightmare to everyone who works on diesel cars and vans caused by the manufacturers trying to clean up diesels. Some lied about the results. We've found that using quality branded fuels such as Shell and Esso causes fewer problems as opposed to using, for example, supermarket fuels.
P2002 - Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) Description: The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the efficiency of the diesel particulate filter for a concern. The efficiency of the filter is determined by the amount of restriction in the filter for a certain exhaust flow rate.

The DPFE was deleted from the Focus engine/s back in 2003 or earlier. Your 08 has a Duratec engine, with the EGR (valve) mounted onto the side (drivers-side) of the engine block. This EGR has an electrical connector and a single engine coolant hose connected onto it. You can find this EGR fairly easily with the hood-up and looking on the side
The standard EGR (when clean) does not restrict flow, so the bypass is pointless. (again in my opinion) Blanking plate (or 2) £2.50 - £8, get one approx 2mm thick. Dont use tin cans or thin. metal they will burn through. Watch out for the 2 bolts that bolt it to the manifold, only nip them up gently, they are fragile.
