Rotate QA, spill collar moves up and down plunger rod to control injection amount. QA position is monitored also by ECU.
I think the main thing that makes the 2.0 a better car than the 1.9 is that usually they have the stronger f40 gearbox rather than the Achilles heal of the 1.9, the m32. Though apparently not all of them use the f40. I've also seen 2.0's listed for sale as having 136bhp rather than the normal 170.
